With more than 20 years in the music industry, Cookie Marenco’s creative and technical skills have touched almost every aspect of the music and audio business. She is widely known for the quality of her audio engineering skills and for drawing out passionate performances from the artists she produces. Marenco is an advocate of using analog tape for recording while pioneering digital delivery to consumers using DSD digital audio.
Cookie Marenco -- Condensed Bio Blue Coast Records founder and producer/engineer Cookie Marenco is a five-time Grammy nominee, recorded more than 400 titles in 20 years and is a former A&R representative Windham Hill Records where she produced Winter Solstice 2. In 1997 Marenco became the first engineer to record a live concert to the internet and distributed worldwide through her work with Liquid Audio. She is co-creator of E.S.E. (Extended Sound Environment), a proprietary recording technique for stereo and surround sound with Jean Claude Reynaud.
Marenco Media, founded in 2008, houses her entrepreneurial explorations for artist web development, music retail (Downloads NOW!), large file aggregation and delivery, content creation (Blue Coast Records) and new media production. In 2010 Blue Coast Records became the first label to sell DSD audio Direct to Fans worldwide becoming a catalyst for DSD consumer products.
Marenco’s OTR Studios, founded over two decades ago and based in the San Francisco Bay area, has earned a worldwide reputation for the highest quality analog and digital recording, mastering and internet audio while hosting international students in a mentoring program. Cookie Marenco is currently used in advertisements for Sony AR1 high end speakers, writes for Positive Feedback, EQ, Keyboard, Pstracks and was an Artist in Residence for IndabaMusic. She is a technology beta tester, an in-demand expert panelist at AES, NARM, RMAF and NARAS, and is a University lecturer. Marenco continues her work as an independent producer and releases multiple titles for Blue Coast Records each year.
